Facebook is making us unhappy and is making people who suffer from "Facebook envy" to plunge into depression, according to a recent study.Users who took a week away from social media were much happier with life, and ranked their own well-being.The Copenhagen University experiment included 1095 people, half of whom were asked to continue their Fejsbuk use habits, and half to not get into it at all. Those who admitted to suffering from high levels of Facebook, the tendency to be jealous of the activity of friends in social media, benefited most from this departure from Facebook.
"Millions of hours pass Facebook every day,"
wrote author Morten Tromholt. "Of course, today we are better
interconnected than before, but is this good for our welfare? According to the
current study, the answer is NO. In fact, the main use of Facebook - that is, a
way of communicating and receiving information about others, as a pastime - is
adversely affecting our well-being in several dimensions. "
In the test, Facebook users rated life satisfaction 7.74
out of 10 points on average, but those who stayed away from him ranked at 8.11.
